€€€ Lawrence’s (219 105 500. Rua Consiglieri Pedroso, 38). Some of its many illustrious clients included Eça de Queiroz, Lord Byron and William Beckford. All of them mentioned the restaurant in their writings. It has a traditional menu and a good wine list.
€€ Tacho Real (219 235 277. Rua da Ferraria, 4; closed on Wednesdays). Its 12th century décor offers a lush setting. It has a good choice and it has been the recipient of many awards.
