LISBON - ESTRELA, LAPA AND DOCA DE ALCÂNTARA
RELAX IN THE JARDIM DA ESTRELA
The Estrela garden, now renamed to Jardim Guerra Junqueiro, was built in the mid-19th century, and it is situated right in front of the Estrela Basilica. From the several tree species gathered here, we should highlight the rubber tree, the Dragon tree and the Jacaranda tree. To the north of the garden you’ll find the Cemitério Inglês (“English Cemetery”), where the British writer Henry Fielding is buried.
WALK IN THE BOTANICAL GARDEN
Between the Príncipe Real and the Largo do Rato there is a hidden, wonderful garden. Exotic species, huge trees in a space filled with mystery and enchantment. (Rua da Escola Politécnica, 58. Winter: 10 am – 6 pm; Summer: 10 am – 8 pm. €1,50).
