CASTLE AND FORTIFICATIONS
A superb example of a 12th. century medieval fortress, with an imposing keep. The fortifications date from the Restoration and the wars with Castille in the 17th. century and are designed in the typical style of the period to provide low, broad walls with bulwarks and buttresses for artillery. Climb up to the walled area of the castle and relax, enjoying the view of the infinite Alentejo horizon.

SANTA MARIA CHURCH
The interior of this Renaissance building has three naves with Ionic columns. It also contains Mannerist and Baroque altarpieces and a 16th. century painting.
