NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC DISCOVERS PORTUGAL'S PENEDA-GERÊS NATIONAL PARK
Peneda-Geres is a unique and surprising national park that combines in a very peculiar way human and wild life. It has been like that since the Stone Age.
The author Tom Mueller and the photographer Peter Essick discovered Peneda-Geres with the portuguese biologist Francisco Alvares, and they wrote: "Many parks celebrate pure nature, but Peneda-Gerês is memorable for its juxtapositions: wolf dens within sight of human homes, ancient villages in the shadow of wind turbines."
Don't miss their story and the breathtaking pictures in the article "The Delicate Balance of Portugal's Premier Park". In the end, you will fall in love with this region of Portugal. To read the full National Geographic article click here.

You will find tempting options waiting to be discovered.
PORTUGAL TRAILS IS A PROUD PARTNER OF HERITAGE LISBON HOTELS
Portugal Trails’ mission is to provide the most excellent service to each client. Therefore, we are focused on selecting and working with partners that share our values in order to offer our clients the best experiences.
We are very proud of this partnership because we believe we are moving a step forward toward excellence. "The partnership with the Heritage Hotels is a natural answer regarding our strategy of working with the best. Quality is a supreme value in our tours", Eduardo Cláudio, Portugal Trails’ Managing Partner.
The Heritage Lisbon Hotels were created with the idea of promoting charming hotels that reflect Portugal's and Lisbon's tradition and culture. Installed in old houses and small historic buildings in the historic centre, these boutique hotels offer an intimate and welcoming environment.
Hotel Britania (photo) is the perfect example of The Heritage Lisbon Hotels’ philosophy – A genuine Art Deco Boutique Hotel in the Historic Centre of Lisbon.
The charming art-deco Hotel Britania, part of a project by Cassiano Branco, the illustrious Portuguese modernist architect, is located on a quiet street alongside the cosmopolitan Avenida da Liberdade. The only hotel to remain intact until today, this hotel records the glamour of the 1940’s.
Hotel Britania was ranked 6th in the “Top 25 Hotels in Europe” and considered #1 in Portugal by TripAdvisor.

PORTUGAL : AMONG THE TOP TEN DESTINATIONS TO VISIT IN 2010!!!
According to the Travel Guide "Lonely Planet":
"Skirting along the southwestern edge of the Iberian Peninsula, the once-great seafaring nation of Portugal today straddles two very different worlds. For purists, this is a land of great tradition, of saints-day festivals where ox-drawn carts still lumber through flower-strewn streets, and ancient vineyards bring sleepy medieval villages to life during the annual harvest. Meanwhile, in other parts of the country, something decidedly more modern is transpiring. Old city centres are slowly being revitalised. A new wave of boutiques, art galleries and cafes are finding new homes in once crumbling old buildings, and locals are beginning to rediscover the allure of vibrant downtown areas."
